Building Self-Reliant Communities from the Ground Up
Mahashakti Foundation's empowerment work centres on one belief: that lasting change happens when communities own it. We work directly with women, youth, smallholder farmers, tribal populations, artisans, and migrant workers — building their capacities, strengthening their institutions, and connecting them to markets and government entitlements.
Through our Cluster-Based Business Organisation (CBBO) programme under NABARD, the Crop Diversification Programme under the Mega Lift Irrigation scheme, and the Tribal Development Fund's Wadi initiative, we have created pathways to income that are community-built and climate-resilient. As the implementing agency for the Odisha Millet Mission, MSF has assisted over 750 farmers in cultivating millets across 700 hectares, improving incomes and integrating millets into state nutrition programmes.
Programmes like Sampurna, Sakhi, Adi Kala, Samriddhi, and Sanskruti have collectively empowered thousands of women artisans and small farmers — providing skills, raw materials, market linkages, and the confidence to build micro-businesses. The TDF Wadi emp-project alone has converted 200 acres of barren land into productive horticultural farms benefiting tribal communities.

CBBO emp-project
Mahashakti Foundation has been appointed as a Cluster-Based Business Organisation (CBBO) by NABARD to mobilise farmers, promote FPOs, and strengthen their institutional and market capacities across districts of Odisha.

Implemented with support from HDFC Bank Parivartan, Sampurna integrates small and marginal farmers into inclusive value chains. Three FPOs have been formed, benefiting over 1,000 farmers with improved market access and price realisation.
