Addressing these issues requires a shift towards sustainable practices such as organic farming, agroforestry, and climate-resilient agriculture. By promoting conservation techniques, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and fostering community awareness, environmental initiatives can safeguard livelihoods while protecting the planet.
Mahashakti Foundation is actively promoting environmental sustainability through climate-resilient practices in the rice sector. The organization is implementing the Core Carbon Sustainable Rice Initiative in collaboration with Core CarbonX (CCX), which has successfully reduced methane emissions by 38% through the use of the Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) irrigation method. These initiatives have not only enhanced productivity but also minimized environmental degradation. By integrating climate-smart techniques with traditional farming methods, Mahashakti is fostering a greener and more sustainable future for rural communities.
Under the Integrated Village Development Program (IVDP), Mahashakti Foundation (MSF) has made a significant environmental impact by promoting sustainable water conservation and eco-friendly agricultural practices. The renovation of farm ponds has enhanced water availability for irrigation, reducing farmers’ dependency on erratic rainfall and improving crop yields. Additionally, MSF’s initiatives have encouraged soil conservation and efficient resource management, fostering long-term environmental sustainability in rural communities. By integrating environmental awareness into the program, MSF has contributed to a more resilient and self-sufficient ecosystem, benefiting both agriculture and local livelihoods.
