Education is a cornerstone of social and economic development, empowering individuals and communities to improve their quality of life. Access to education enables people to gain knowledge, develop skills, and participate effectively in society. In rural areas, however, educational opportunities are often limited due to inadequate infrastructure, financial constraints, and socio-cultural barriers, particularly for women and marginalized communities. Bridging this gap requires targeted interventions such as adult literacy programs, vocational training, and digital education, ensuring that education is inclusive and accessible to all.
Mahashakti Foundation is actively working to enhance educational access and literacy through initiatives like the Women Literacy Centres (WLC), which were implemented in collaboration with TPCODL-CSR. These centers are set up in Bhubaneswar’s slums to provide functional literacy to adult women, helping them develop reading and financial management skills. The program trains educators, known as Preraks, to deliver literacy modules through digital tools, benefiting over 1,000 women. Additionally, Mahashakti focuses on skill development for artisans engaged in traditional crafts like Sabai grass, jute, and embroidery, helping them access better income opportunities. By integrating education with livelihood development, Mahashakti fosters self-reliance and economic resilience among disadvantaged communities.
Under the Integrated Village Development Program (IVDP), Mahashakti Foundation (MSF) has significantly improved education in rural communities by enhancing access to quality learning resources and infrastructure. The program has facilitated better school environments, supported students with necessary educational materials, and conducted capacity-building sessions for teachers to improve teaching methodologies. Additionally, MSF has worked on increasing awareness about the importance of education among parents and communities, leading to higher school enrollment and reduced dropout rates. These efforts have collectively contributed to a more inclusive and effective education system, empowering children with better learning opportunities for a brighter future.
