Financial Inclusion & Digital Literacy

Mahashakti operates with a mission to bridge the digital divide and empower underserved communities through access to financial services and digital skills training. It conducts workshops, seminars, and community outreach programs to educate individuals, particularly those in rural and low-income areas, about the importance of financial literacy and the benefits of digital technology. Through partnerships with financial institutions and technology companies, Mahashakti facilitates access to banking services, digital payment platforms, and affordable credit options, enabling individuals to manage their finances more effectively and participate in the formal economy.

Mahashakti finds its genesis in the Credit and Savings of Household Enterprise (CASHE) project, which dealt with creating awareness among beneficiaries related to financial credit and savings. Mahashakti is a pioneer in providing microfinance services to households engaged in low-income generating activities. Many SHGs (Self-Help Groups) promoted by Mahashakti have become self-reliant and are availing different financial services. Many have evolved to become federations and trusts.

Currently, in the digital literacy space, we have collaborated with Tata Power to help women beneficiaries from Bhubaneswar’s slum areas with computer education. With SIDBI, ACCION, and ACC-Trust, we have completed projects associated with financial literacy and digital finance during the period 2007-2020. We strive to empower individuals to overcome barriers to financial inclusion and unlock the transformative potential of digital technology for socio-economic advancement.
